Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park is our main base of operation. This is where you will find the bulk of our Ski Plane fleet, our Helicopters and our Engineering Base. We are the only company based at Aoraki Mount Cook Airport, only 5 minutes from the Aoraki/Mount Cook Village and a variety of accommodation including; The Hermitage Hotel and the Aoraki/Mt Cook Alpine Lodge. We provide courtesy transport from the Village for all our passengers.
Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park contains 19 peaks over 3000m in height, including the tallest peak Aoraki/Mount Cook and the longest glacier, the Tasman Glacier at over 27km in length. We recommend taking a scenic flight by Ski Plane or Helicopter to really appreciate these geographical wonders.
The park is also home to our native alpine parrot – the Kea. These birds are very inquisitive and at times destructive, if you leave items lying around they will endeavour to destroy it. You may also be lucky enough to see the New Zealand Falcon, we have several nesting pairs in the Park.
Aoraki/Mount Cook Village hosts a variety of activities ranging from The Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre, 4WD Tours, walks in the park, the DOC Visitor Centre, and glacial boat tours to scenic flights around Aoraki/Mount Cook and Westland National Parks.
There is something here for everyone, whether it’s a glass of wine in front of an open fire while watching the sunset on Aoraki/Mount Cook or a breathtaking hike up into the snowline for spectacular views of the peaks that encircle the Village. Take a couple of days out of your busy schedule to unwind in our part of the world, you won’t be disappointed. |
